“His letters to me were the letters of a delighted ad enthusiastic child. He gave an account of his trivial adventure, of amazing things he had see, and of the beautiful sounds he had heard. He had met with strange birds, had startled a hare and her form, had made friends with a fierce dog, and had watched the trout darting in a stream. He sent me some of the wild flowers he had picked. They were of the commonest and most familiar kind. But they were evidently regarded by him as rare and precious specimens.”

Up To Now Private View Photos by Hugo Evans
A fantastic turn out for the Up To Now exhibition that took place over the weekend- really proud of the year group for the massive amount of preparation and time it took to set up, and the outstanding work that was exhibited. If you didn’t manage to catch the show, here are a few images from the private view.

RNLI.
Twenty-four hours a day, three hundred and sixty five days a year the Royal National Lifeboat Institute, serves the shores and seas of the British Isles. The RNLI is an independent charity and does not receive any funding from the UK government. In 2010 alone there was 8,713 launches around the UK and Ireland, which resulted in 8,313 people being rescued (of which 309 were lives saved), all of this relies on money contributed by donations.
It occurred to me that many of us, myself included know so little about the imperative and extensive work the RNLI do. This piece of Information Design looks at each of the stations, their locations, and the ranges that their boats cover. It also gives details of the number of launches and lives saved by the courageous skilled volunteers who selflessly give their time and risk their lives to help others.

A brilliantly gifted illustrator friend of mine, Sarah Clark, created this beautiful felt badge whilst exploring (in her words) “the the ideas of gentlemanly behaviours and the ridiculous etiquette which people still play up to even today.” She’s super talented, check out her blog by clicking on the image above.
